Getting around the Margaret River region
The Margaret River region stretches well beyond the town of Margaret River. Busselton, Dunsborough, Yallingup, Cowaramup, Boranup, Karridale and Augusta can all be part of a trip, but they do not belong in every day.
Start and finish at your actual base
Choose a base town and enter your stay if known. Planner allows time from that area to the first stop, between stops and back again. Use each route link to check the exact addresses and road journey before confirming reservations.
Understand the time allowances
The current planner uses locality-based allowances with breathing room. These are not live navigation times and do not account for every road, traffic delay, stop, weather event or closure. Check a current mapping service and official conditions before travelling. A short distance on a map is not evidence of a safe walking route.
Plan wine transport before tastings
Select a non-drinking driver or arranged transfers for wine tasting days. Planner does not add tastings to self-drive itineraries. Confirm pickup points, operating area, waiting time and the return trip with the transport provider before booking experiences.
Protect arrival and departure days
Your arrival time in Planner is when you are ready to explore from your regional base. Travel from Perth, the airport or another origin is separate. On departure day, set the time you need to be back at base, with enough extra time for your onward journey.
Leave a practical alternative
If weather or a closure affects a coastal or forest stop, retain free time or choose an alternative whose access and availability you have checked. A saved plan is a useful reference, not a guarantee that conditions remain unchanged.
